Peach Salsa is juicy, fresh, sweet and with a heat kick. It is summer in a bowl! Serve peach salsa with tortilla chips or chicken, pork and salmon.

In our house adults and big kids are huge fans of fruity salsas like mango salsa and pineapple salsa. To be honest, salsa dip with chips is often a summer dinner around here.

Peach Salsa Recipe

Peach salsa recipe is so good I am willing to sacrifice fresh peaches for it. If you know me, you know I am obsessed with seasonal fruit. I refuse to cook it. We only eat raw fresh local fruit “to stock up” our taste buds for winter.

Last time we bought 25 lbs of fresh Okanagan peaches, I sacrificed 5 fruit for this delicious peach salsa. Then took it to a party. It was a hit!

We happened to bring leftovers home and enjoyed peach salsa with grilled chili lime chicken the next day. So good!

Ingredients You Will Need

Peach salsa is juicy, fresh and sweet. Ingredients are simple, you just need patience to dice them.

  • Peaches
  • Tomatoes
  • Cilantro
  • Red onion
  • Lime
  • Jalapeno or habanero pepper

Truth is, you can also add bell pepper, avocado, mango, pineapple, mint and ginger. All to taste. Peach salsa recipe is very flexible and forgiving.

Do I Have to Peel Peaches?

“Do I have to peel peaches?” was the main factor when deciding if peach salsa will even happen. Because if I have to dunk peaches into boiling water and peel them, no peach salsa for me.

Good news – you do not have to peel peaches. Once diced, you will not taste the skin. Nor will it interfere with overall dipping crunchy salty tortilla chips into sweet spicy salsa experience.

How Do I Pick Best Peach for Salsa?

Peach is a delicate fruit. Peach is ready when it is soft and gives in a bit to the touch. That is the best peach for fresh peach salsa.

Too squishy peach is overripe and it is best to enjoy it raw with a towel nearby. Dripping peaches over faces are a true story. A messy process I would pay a lot for in February.

Varieties of peaches vary by region. Any kind works. We are lucky to leave close to Okanagan, BC where it is like mini Italy – best fruit, veggies and wine in the country.

You want to be careful when coring and dicing peaches not to turn fruit into a mush.

Here is an easy way how to core peaches:

  1. With a sharp knife, slice peach to the pit in half all around.
  2. Then slice each half in half to the pit ending up with 4 quarters.
  3. Now it should be easy to remove each quarter size slice from the pit.
  4. Dice.

Make Sure Your Knife Is Sharp

Make sure your knife is sharp before dicing peaches and tomatoes. These fruit have thin skin and delicate texture inside.

Sharp knife helps preserve their shape the best while cutting the skin through.

How Long Does Salsa Last?

Peach salsa like any salsa starts to leak juices pretty much right away. But have you seen a huge plastic jar of peach salsa in Costco? How old do you think that is? Probably months. And it is so high in sodium, it is absolutely awful.

Ours is glorious compared to the store bought one. Morale of the story is our homemade peach salsa leftovers can last 48 hours. We tried.

You can make salsa ahead – do not add salt or stir. Do that right before serving. It will last longer.

What to Serve Peach Salsa With?

Naturally peach salsa goes well with pork. Grilled pork tenderloin comes to mind right away. I am yet to find locally raised pork.

Grilled salmon is a great pork contender as well.

Grilled chicken like grilled chicken breast, cilantro lime chicken or even Greek chicken are calling peach salsa’s name.

With tortilla chips. With burritos, quesadillas and tostadas. You name it!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs peaches, diced
  • 1 lb ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1 small bunch cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup red onion, minced
  • 1 lime, juice of
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded & minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

To Core Peaches:

  1. With a sharp knife, slice peach to the pit in half all around.
  2. Then slice each half in half to the pit ending up with 4 quarters.
  3. Now it should be easy to remove each quarter size slice from the pit.
  4. Dice.

To make Peach Salsa:

  1. In a medium bowl, add diced peaches, tomatoes, cilantro, red onion, jalapeno, lime juice, salt and pepper.
  2. Stir, cover and refrigerate for about 15 minutes.
  3. Serve with tortilla chips. Or pile up on top of chicken, fish, salmon, pork tenderloin and tacos.

Store: Refrigerate covered for up to 48 hours.

Make Ahead: Do not add salt or stir. Do that right before serving. It will last longer.
