What Are Whole Foods?

A whole food diet is one that is rich in whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. The whole food diet has been around for a very long time and it’s no wonder why. There are many health benefits to eating whole foods, but what is a whole food? A whole food is anything that comes from nature, not man. That means whole grains, whole beans, and whole fruit.

Whole grains contain all of the parts of the grain. They are not refined or processed into any other form. Whole grains have more fiber and nutrients than refined grains. Whole grains are also much lower in fat and calories. Whole grains include wheat, barley, rye, oats, millet, spelt, kamut, triticale, farro, and bulgur.

Whole beans are legumes that come from the ground. They are not dried and they contain all of the natural fiber and nutrients found in the bean. Beans are high in protein, calcium, iron, folate, potassium, and magnesium.

Whole fruits are whole plant foods that come from nature. They are not processed and do not contain any added sugar. Fruits are high in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber. Whole fruits include apples, apricots, cherries, peaches, pears, bananas, oranges, tangerines, strawberries, plums, and grapefruits.

Nuts and seeds are the most concentrated source of nutrition known to man. Nuts are packed with protein, fats, and carbohydrates. They are also low in calories. Nuts are great for snacking on and they can be used in a variety of recipes.

When you eat whole foods, you will notice that you feel better and you will lose weight. When you eat whole foods, you are getting all of the nutrients that your body needs. You will also have a lot less stress because you are not eating foods that have been processed.
